Mount Tabor Lutheran Church is celebrating 100 years of ministry in the Salt Lake Valley.  Our theme is "A Century of Blessings, Moving Forward in Love".  We celebrate the importance of recognizing our rich past and how it influences our future service within the community.

We remember our Danish heritage, our pastors, congregational leaders, teachers and members -- our fellowship and our ministries.  We recall those who have gone before us and share old stories with new visitors. Mount Tabor resides in the heart of Salt Lake City and welcomes all.

One of the significant on-going ministries of Mount Tabor is its service in the community through several organizations including the Utah Food Bank, Crossroads Urban Center, Family Promise and Habitat for Humanity.  To mark this commitment, members have been raising a TON of food -- 1907 pounds as the goal with a matching 100 pounds bringing the gift to 2007 pounds by October 14.  The non-perishable food is donated to the Utah Food Bank.

We started our celebration on Sunday, October 7 with Pastor Dan Bollman preaching at our worship service at 10:30 AM.  Pastor Bollman is from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Rocky Mountain Synod office in Denver.

The weekend of October 13-14 marked the full measure of greeting past pastors and members and inviting the community to join us first on Saturday evening at 7:00 pm, for a wine and cheese reception and music concert.  The concert  featured our organist of over 35 years, Gordon Smith and alumni choir director, Brian Priebe joining Harry Heightman directing the Mount Tabor choir in several old and new choir favorites.  We were also pleased to have Linda Priebe, a Tabor choir alum and now professional mezzo-soprano, offer her gift of music on the program.  http://www.lindapriebe.com/

On Sunday morning, October 14th, our Festival Worship incorporated Tabor's former pastors: Arthur Sorenson, Tony Auer, Carol West, Grant Aaseng, Howard Corry, Presiding Minister Annemarie Burke and Mount Tabor lay-leaders.  Rusty McKinney, former choir director, led the choir.  Following the service, a catered luncheon featuring Danish cuisine was served in the church basement for members and visiting guests.
